Just about everyone is self-conscious about a part of their body. Sometimes it is because others picked on them and made fun of them for it at a younger age, while others simply become fixated on one part of their body that is not up to their own liking, even if nobody has ever said anything. In many ways, we all have some kind of body confidence issue. That is one of the leading reasons why patients go under the knife for rhinoplasty surgery, better known as a “nose job.” Dr. Finical sat down with Spectrum News recently and went over the procedure and some of the benefits of rhinoplasty surgery, both physically and mentally.
A Minor Surgery with Major Results
While talking with Spectrum News, Dr. Finical went over some of the rhinoplasty surgeries he has performed. In the grand scheme of medical procedures, Dr. Finical admitted a rhinoplasty is a minor surgery. It usually revolves around smoothing out a bump, or adjusting some of the symmetry in the nose, helping it match the rest of the face. And yet, while it is a minor surgery, it can have a major, lasting impact on those individuals who receive it.
One woman reported being bullied growing up because of her nose. She recalled children calling her a “witch’s nose” because of the bump in her nose. It sent her self-confidence plummeting. At this time, the girl found her way into the world of makeup, taught herself how to contour and hide her nose. It did help her develop a passion for makeup and the beauty industry, yet she couldn’t shake the words children would spew at her. So, when the time was right, she had Dr. Finical make a slight adjustment to her nose. It wasn’t anything major, other than having part of the bridge lowered to eliminate the “bump.”
It is not a major surgery, but it does deliver major results. And as the woman who received the rhinoplasty surgery said, it is important to do it for yourself. While you should always love yourself for who you are, if there’s a tweak you want to make that may help boost your self-confidence, there’s nothing wrong with it. So do it for yourself and then take advantage of all the improved feelings that come with it. Let’s take a deep delve into the benefits of rhinoplasty surgery.
The Benefits of Rhinoplasty Surgery
In most cases, rhinoplasty surgery brings about elevated self-confidence. It is why a large percentage of people decide to go under the knife and have the surgery performed. The subtle tweak can have a lasting impact on their lives moving forward. And yet, it is not the only reason why such surgery might be performed.
In other cases, rhinoplasty surgery might be recommended to help with breathing. Sometimes the nasal passage is too constricted, and it makes it difficult to breathe. Other times a person might have sustained an injury that collapsed one side of the nose or caused other kinds of damage. With a nose job, it is possible to rebuild and correct any kind of damage, improve upon issues that might stem from a deviated septum, boost breathing, and, as Dr. Finical discussed, boost self-confidence.
Mental health is still health. It plays an essential part in everyone’s daily life. Without self-confidence, other health problems can pop up. It’s truly amazing what a positive mindset can do to your overall well-being.
If you have been struggling with confidence issues, either due to being picked on as a kid or if you simply see your nose in the mirror every morning and it causes you self-doubt, now might be the time to see what you can do about it. It’s an elected surgery that can transform your life. After all, when you’re confident in yourself, it’s possible to accomplish just about anything.
