Which Neck Lift Option is Right for Me?

Posted on by Dr. Stephan Finical to Facelift

A natural part of the aging process is that our skin tends to get a little looser—sometimes in ways that’s not really noticeable, but sometimes in ways that dramatically alter our physical appearance. A good example is the delicate and often thin skin of the neck. Here at Charlotte Plastic Surgery, we hear from a lot of clients who are concerned about the loose skin hanging from their neck and how it can make them look much older than they really are. And in today’s world of looking down at our phones and other electronic devices, MANY of our patients have this concern. They come to us wanting to know more about neck lift options and asking about ways to reverse this highly visible sign of aging.

Not only is there a way for our clients to deal with this neck issue—there are several ways in the world of facial procedures. Learn what is the best neck lift procedure for you by coming to meet with one of our providers in order to learn more about the available treatments.

As you prepare for this consultation, here’s a quick summary of some of the primary neck lift options.

Kybella®

The first thing you should know about neck procedures is that not all of them require you to go under the knife—and a good example of that fact is Kybella®. This is an FDA-approved injectable, one we’ve been offering for a few years now, that is specifically recommended for those who have a so-called “double chin” and simply wish to reduce some of the fullness around their face and neck area.

A Kybella® injection contours and improves the appearance of the neck and chin area—and not just temporarily. This neck lift option will require most patients to have two to four treatments, but the result can last a lifetime—allowing you to deal with some of your neck and chin issues with just a few simple office visits, and no recovery time required.

CoolSculpting®

Another non-surgical neck rejuvenation option that’s gained in popularity as of late is CoolSculpting®—a procedure that can be used to treat everything from “love handles” to double chins and excess neck fat.

Essentially, this is a procedure that targets problem areas with an advanced device that freezes and kills fat cells—allowing the client to literally freeze off entire inches! Once frozen and killed, the dead fat cells are naturally eliminated by the body – the process is quick and painless.

The number of treatments required simply depends on the extent of the problem; some clients get results in just one treatment, while others may require follow-up visits. Again though, if you’re looking to get a more chiseled appearance—particularly in the neck area—with just a few simple office visits, CoolSculpting® is something to consider.

Liposuction

Another neck lift option is Liposuction. This is a procedure that we recommend for clients who have stubborn fat clinging to any part of their body, fat that exercise and proper nutrition just can’t seem to address. For some clients, this can be the right approach to eliminating that extra flap around the neck.

This is a slightly more aggressive approach than the two previously listed, requiring you to go under the knife—and while all surgeries come with some risks, you should know that Liposuction is one of the most commonly performed procedures in the country, and has been for many years. What’s more, surgical methods have advanced in recent years, allowing for improved outcomes and heightened patient safety.

Different forms of Liposuction are available, but they all involve fat being broken down and then “vacuumed” out of the body—removing that stubborn fat and allowing you to have a more contoured and finely-shaped neck area.

Profound® RF

We’re extremely excited to offer an option that is one of the most talked-about treatments in the cosmetic industry today. This new addition to our offerings is called Profound® RF—an intervention that uses a combination of radiofrequency and Microneedling to tighten and firm the skin in the targeted area (in this case, the neck). This procedure creates a more elastic skin, and thus it’s often used to treat wrinkles on the face and especially around the mouth.

For some patients, though, it can also be an effective way of improving the appearance of the neck. Essentially, it works by stimulating new collagen production, and it does so without the need for surgery. Multiple treatments may be needed for this neck lift option, but many clients respond well to it and end up with results that thrill them.

Finding the Right Neck Lift Option for You

Many clients come to us asking about their neck—but their concerns aren’t always the same, and neither are their skincare needs. There are plenty of great neck lift options available, but no one-size-fits-all solution. That’s why we encourage clients to come meet with a skincare specialist or a cosmetic surgeon, and to learn a little bit more about the individualized solutions we provide.

Charlotte Plastic Surgery takes pride in helping each client pinpoint the treatment that’s best-suited for their needs and their beauty goals—whether that means an injection, a take-home skincare product, or even surgical intervention. The best way to begin the process is to call us in our office today and schedule a consultation.
