Dry Weather Skin Care Tips

Posted on by CPS to Skin Care

Are we currently in the middle of winter or spring? Who can tell with the temperatures fluctuating day-to-day. If we can’t determine the season, how is our skin supposed to do this?

Dr. Smith recently appeared on WBTV’s Weekend Morning Show to share his tips for achieving great skin during this unpredictable weather. Lyndsay Tapases, WBTV’s Meteorologist, even joined the segment!

Dr. Smith recommended the same products and treatments he recommends to his patients:

  1. Be sure to protect your skin 24 hours a day, even during the months we aren’t out enjoying the sunshine and warmer weather. The sun’s rays will always work to damage your skin. The best product available to help protect your skin is SkinMedica’s Total Defense + Repair. This new super-product creates a barrier, not only from UVA and UVB rays, but also Infrared rays which are extremely harmful to your skin. It also has reparative properties that help undo prior skin damage!
  2. Prepare your skin for what’s to come. SkinMedica’s HA5 improves your skin’s capacity to hold moisture. As we age out skin loses the ability to hold moisture, leading to fine lines and wrinkles and what seems like a shelf for our makeup to settle into as the day goes on, making lines more pronounced. HA5 immediately moisturizes, lasts six to eight hours and should be applied before your makeup but can be used throughout the day on top of your makeup as well.
  3. Moisturize! Moisturize! Moisturize! During this time of year, Dr. Smith recommends SkinMedica’s Dermal Repair Cream as the go-to moisturizer for winter into spring, for all skin types.
  4. Now is the time to have a laser treatment! Laser treatments are more popular than ever due to the incredible results they achieve in helping get rid of sun spots, diminishing fine lines, evening your skin tone and more. The new technology provides incredible results that truly turn back the clock on your skin, making it appear more youthful and rejuvenated. Now is the ideal time of year to have laser resurfacing since your skin has to be without sun prior to and leading up to your treatment. The Halo Laser helps with superficial skin issues. The TRL Laser resurfacing treatment is recommended for deeper skin issues and does require some downtime. The results from both lasers are nothing short of amazing.
