So, whether you do one or both services, we want to help educate you, so you know exactly what to expect after CoolSculpting and CoolTone.
What To Expect After CoolSculpting®
CoolSculpting uses a special technique to freeze fat cells. This freezing process kills off many of the targeted fat cells, although it does take the body some time to process and remove the dead cells. Eventually, up to 25 percent or so of the targeted body fat will be processed and removed from the area. The exact time frame for what to expect after CoolSculpting will depend as each person is a little different.
Immediately after the treatment, you may experience some temporary side effects. Some of these side effects include bruising, tingling, swelling, redness, sensitive skin on the treatment area, and other similar conditions. If you had your neck targeted for CoolSculpting, your throat might feel like it is full as the muscles and skin around the targeted area react to the treatment.
You will not see results right away. You may experience full results within a month, although it may also take up to three months. Depending on the results, you may decide to come back in for secondary treatments.

If you decide to have the procedure performed again, the side effects will likely not be as intense as your body will have already experienced the CoolSculpting treatment method. If you are potentially interested in a follow-up treatment, the staff at The Skin Center can help assist you with this.
It is generally recommended for you to wear loose clothing following the treatment. If you target your midsection, glutes, thighs, or another area that is covered by clothing, you’ll want to go with sweatpants, a loose-fitting t-shirt, or something else that doesn’t directly press on the skin (keep those skinny jeans in the dresser drawer for now). Added pressure to the skin can increase the side effects and cause additional discomfort. The loose clothing will help with this. It also helps improve airflow around the skin.
You should also increase your water intake. It is important for you to drink water and to stay hydrated during this time as it will help your body flush out the dead fat cells. It may not dramatically cut down on time you wait to see results, but it will help. Plus, staying hydrated is essential for healthy living, so if you’re not drinking at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water, you need to start.
What To Expect After CoolTone®
CoolTone is a bit different in the expected side effects category. While CoolSculpting is designed to kill off fat cells, which forces your body to process the fat cells, CoolTone is more of an intense workout for a targeted area. You know the feeling you experience when you hit the gym hard and a certain muscle group aches and even burns following that workout? That’s about what your muscles will feel like following a CoolTone treatment. It isn’t a long-lasting discomfort, although it will likely remain for a few days.
Beyond this well-worked muscle feeling, you will experience, you may also experience some minor side effects such as redness, tingling, and some swelling. This happens because an increase in oxygen and blood will be pumped out the muscles that are targeted (when you see large, muscular individuals working out at the gym, you might notice veins start to bulge, and even their muscles become larger. This is because the body sends additional blood and oxygen to the areas in order to repair damaged muscle fiber. This, essentially, is what happens following a CoolTone treatment.

Result times will depend on a number of factors, and everyone’s a little bit different. During clinical trials, individuals saw an increase in muscle mass by about 16 percent in the targeted areas. This took about two months to achieve.
