Dr. Kevin Smith of Charlotte Plastic Surgery joined Good Day Charlotte to discuss the negative effects of blue-light. More specifically he discusses on how it damages the skin and what people can do to prevent this from happening. Evolving research has shown that blue light can be bad for skin. It’s certain that blue light in the 380–400 nm range is problematic, although the risk seems to lessen somewhat toward the top end at 500 nm. Long-term blue light exposure to concentrated sources of blue light energy can cause skin damage, including color changes, inflammation, and weakening of the skin’s surface. Simply put, blue light promotes stressors in skin that cause photo-aging; that is, aging from exposure to light.
You would not wear your summer clothes in the Winter, so why would you continue to utilize the same skincare products from the summer into the winter months? Dr. Kevin Smith of Charlotte Plastic Surgery clarifies that colder temperatures and dry winter effect your skin quite differently than the warm, frequently humid atmosphere of summer time -- and these modifications have nearly an Immediate effect on your skin. Winter weather depletes the moisture from our skin, therefore it is important to change to products that can deal with your skin's need for deep hydration, and include an exfoliating treatment with growth factors to slough off that skin that is already beginning to collect.
Dr. Nyame of Charlotte Plastic Surgery gives his insight on the many devices used for procedures and speaks on the practitioners who utilize them. Our mission is to renew the quality of life and increase the confidence of our patients through restoration, preservation and enhancement of physical form and function. While most devices used for cosmetic enhancements are similar if not entirely the same from practice to practice, it's the person who is using the device that makes the difference. Our estheticians are well versed and experienced in all cosmetic enhancement procedures and have been helping people look their absolute best for years. We want our patients to feel as comfortable as possible before, during and after each procedure. While our estheticians each specialize in the use of a specific device, we make sure that they are comfortable using every device on hand for any type of procedure that our patients undergo. Knowing what tool to use and how best to use it based on the desired outcome and skin type is something our estheticians pride themselves on.
